Newly-Renovated & Ready for Action at the Landmark Theatre

 

For a fantastic round-up of live music, theatre and festivals this season, check out the historic and newly-renovated Landmark Theatre in the heart of Downtown Syracuse. This stunning theatre opened in the late 1920s and is listed on the United States Park Service National Register of Historical Places, recently having undergone a massive restoration complete with theatre full of brand new seats, railings and shiny new marquee.

Kicking off the 2021/2022 season at the Redhouse in December, audiences can brace themselves for fun musicals, classic American dramas, modern takes on time-honored productions and much more. Start the season off with a favorite film transformed into a lively stage musical.

A powerhouse musical adapted from the 1992 film, everyone's favorite disco diva Deloris has witnessed a murder and is placed into protective custody in the one place where the bad guys won't find her — a convent. With powerful gospel, dance, disco, and soul music from the creative mind of Broadway legend, Alan Menkin, this moving show originally ran on Broadway from April 2011 – August 2012 and was nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

 

 

 

Artworks Galore at the Everson Museum

 

The Everson is a museum of firsts. It was the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art, to create a permanent collection of ceramics, to collect video art, to create a docent program and to hire the now internationally-known architect I.M. Pei to design its building, a sculptural work of art in its own right. The Everson is home to over 10,000 works of art: American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation.

Now - January 2, 2022 — AbStranded: Fiber and Abstraction in Contemporary Art

AbStranded features ten contemporary American artists—Polly Apfelbaum, Paolo Arao, Sanford Biggers, Samantha Bittman, Julia Bland, Rachel B. Hayes, Elana Herzog, Anne Lindberg, Sheila Pepe, and Sarah Zapata—who use fiber-based materials to investigate the complex lineage of abstraction.

 

 

 

Laugh out Loud at the Funny Bone Comedy Club

 

The Funny Bone is a national comedy club that has showcased first-rate comedians throughout its 30-plus year existence, including such superstars as Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Kathleen Madigan, Ellen DeGeneres and Dave Chappelle. The Funny Bone also provides the freshest up-and-coming comedians, as well as develops local talent.
In addition to the featured comedians, The Funny Bone offers an extensive menu and a full bar with table service during the show.
