    It's All About The Arts in Syracuse This Season

    Following an extended intermission, the wait is finally over. Watch your favorite acts take to the stage this season. Opera, symphony orchestras, Broadway productions, theatre, live music, comedy acts, artist exhibitions — whatever entertainment you’re looking for this fall, Syracuse has it all.

     

     

    Experience Symphoria

     

    Renowned as one of only two musician-led cooperative orchestras in the United States, Syracuse’s Symphoria presents more than 50 concerts annually and is composed of a diverse group of talented musicians hailing from across the globe.

    Upcoming events:

    November 20 & 21 — Mid-Autumn Dream

    Enjoy the music of Felix Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream Overture and additional performances of the works of Bach & Farrenc.

    December 4 — Messiah

    A favorite of the holiday season, this concert features the Syracuse University Oratorio Society, Symphoria, and spectacular soloists.

    December 11 — Nutcracker Twist: An Enchanted Journey

    Symphoria presents CirqOvation as aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, comedians, and other amazing cirq performers bring Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker to life in a way that you’ve never experienced before. Symphoria performs the music for this celebration of community and Circus Culture of Ithaca also highlights the night.

    December 17 & 18 — Home for the Holidays

    Vocalist Rachel Mulcahy returns to CNY for your favorite holiday tradition at the Crouse Hinds Concert Theater.

    Mickey Mouse is joined by Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy as they venture though Disney stories, sharing memorable moments from treasured tales. Along the way families sail with Moana, journey to the wintry world of Arendelle with Elsa and Anna, experience the magic of Fantasia and bring magical Disney memories to life.

     

     

     

    Newly-Renovated & Ready for Action at the Landmark Theatre

     

    For a fantastic round-up of live music, theatre and festivals this season, check out the historic and newly-renovated Landmark Theatre in the heart of Downtown Syracuse. This stunning theatre opened in the late 1920s and is listed on the United States Park Service National Register of Historical Places, recently having undergone a massive restoration complete with theatre full of brand new seats, railings and shiny new marquee.

    November 10 — Daughtry: The Dearly Beloved Tour

    The 8th annual New York State Craft Brewers Festival brings together 45+ breweries from every region of the state featuring a wide variety of unique and award-winning beers. Meet the people who craft the beer you love!

    November 23 — Steely Dan

    Experience the musical genius of the three-time Grammy award-winning rock band live in concert. 

    December 2 — Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith

    Multi-platinum, Grammy winners Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith reunite to co-bill their popular Christmas tour for this year's holiday season.

    December 5 — Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical

    December 7 - 12 — Waitress

    The hit Broadway musical featuring music and lyrics by Grammy Award nominee Sara Bareilles takes to the stage in Syracuse this December. Embark on the journey with Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.

    'Tis the Season for Syracuse Stage

     

    After 19 months without live performances, Syracuse Stage is back with a full season of spectacular shows, spotlighting a familiar and favorite story through January 2022.

    November 19 - January 2 — Matilda The Musical

    This Tony Award-winning musical is a classic, captivating treat that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life.

     

     

     

    Lights on at The Redhouse

     

    Kicking off the 2021/2022 season at the Redhouse in December, audiences can brace themselves for fun musicals, classic American dramas, modern takes on time-honored productions and much more. Start the season off with a favorite film transformed into a lively stage musical.

    December 3 - 19 — Sister Act

    A powerhouse musical adapted from the 1992 film, everyone's favorite disco diva Deloris has witnessed a murder and is placed into protective custody in the one place where the bad guys won't find her — a convent. With powerful gospel, dance, disco, and soul music from the creative mind of Broadway legend, Alan Menkin, this moving show originally ran on Broadway from April 2011 – August 2012 and was nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

     

     

     

    Artworks Galore at the Everson Museum

     

    The Everson is a museum of firsts. It was the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art, to create a permanent collection of ceramics, to collect video art, to create a docent program and to hire the now internationally-known architect I.M. Pei to design its building, a sculptural work of art in its own right. The Everson is home to over 10,000 works of art: American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation.

    November 18 — An Evening at the Everson

    Join us for a truly immersive experience on the Third Thursday of the month. Experience the Museum and learn about exhibitions and the history of the building through informal guided strolls. Afterwards, sip along and learn about a variety of wines with James Beckman, Regional Vice President of the American Wine Society. Join us for a thrilling concert of newly commissioned works, Prisms and Antiphons – v. 1.1 – AbStranded.

    Now - January 2, 2022 — AbStranded: Fiber and Abstraction in Contemporary Art

    AbStranded features ten contemporary American artists—Polly Apfelbaum, Paolo Arao, Sanford Biggers, Samantha Bittman, Julia Bland, Rachel B. Hayes, Elana Herzog, Anne Lindberg, Sheila Pepe, and Sarah Zapata—who use fiber-based materials to investigate the complex lineage of abstraction.

     

     

     

    Laugh out Loud at the Funny Bone Comedy Club

     

    The Funny Bone is a national comedy club that has showcased first-rate comedians throughout its 30-plus year existence, including such superstars as Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Kathleen Madigan, Ellen DeGeneres and Dave Chappelle. The Funny Bone also provides the freshest up-and-coming comedians, as well as develops local talent.
    In addition to the featured comedians, The Funny Bone offers an extensive menu and a full bar with table service during the show.
