Have you ever imagined seeing your name in the credits of a film or television show? With Central New York's entertainment industry experiencing significant growth, this dream is more attainable than ever. The WCNY Entertainment Academy stands at the forefront of this movement, offering comprehensive training to prepare you for a dynamic career in film and television production.

The Entertainment Academy: Empowering Central New York's Film Industry

Syracuse has emerged as a premier destination for film, television, and commercial production. In 2022 alone, Onondaga County attracted over $30 million in production budgets, with approximately 70% of that spending benefiting local businesses and talent. Recognizing the need for a skilled and diverse workforce to support this booming industry, WCNY launched the Entertainment Academy in 2023.

This 14-week program was developed in collaboration with I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, the union representing most crew positions in the film industry across Upstate New York. The Academy aims to create a more inclusive workforce by providing specialized training in various production trades. By equipping people with the necessary skills, the Academy not only enhances individual career prospects but also strengthens the region's capacity to attract and sustain large-scale productions.

Comprehensive Training: Your Pathway to Success in Film and Television

At the WCNY Entertainment Academy, you'll receive hands-on instruction in key areas of production:
