Meet    The    Planner

Meet Carrie Wojtaszek, Chief Operating Officer | Galaxy Media

Q1: What inspired your career path and ultimately led you to your current role as COO of Galaxy Media?

I’ve always been passionate about building connections between people and creating experiences that bring communities together. Early in my career, I was drawn to media and events because they’re both powerful tools for storytelling and community impact. Over time, I found myself energized not only by the creative side but also by the strategy, operations, and leadership needed to bring big ideas to life. That blend naturally led me to my role as COO at Galaxy Media, where I have the privilege of overseeing both the business side and the community engagement side of what we do.

Q2: What makes the Syracuse Nationals such a special event for Onondaga County and the broader Central New York community?

The Syracuse Nationals is more than just a car show — it’s a tradition that brings together generations of families, car enthusiasts, and visitors from across the country. It’s special because it’s not only the largest car show in the Northeast but also a true celebration of Central New York’s hospitality and culture. For Onondaga County, it drives significant tourism and economic impact, filling hotels, restaurants, and shops. But beyond the numbers, it creates lasting memories and a sense of pride for our region.

Q3: What partnerships or collaborations have been key to sustaining and growing the Nationals here?

Partnerships are at the heart of the Syracuse Nationals’ success. We’ve been fortunate to have strong relationships with Onondaga County, local businesses, sponsors, and community organizations who all see the value in this event. Collaborations with local nonprofits also allow us to give back, keeping the Nationals rooted in community impact as much as entertainment. These partnerships help us continue to innovate, expand, and ensure the event thrives here in Central New York.

Q4: What advice would you give to young professionals aspiring to leadership positions in media, events, or community development?

My advice would be to stay curious, be willing to learn every aspect of the business, and never underestimate the importance of relationships. Leadership isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about listening, adapting, and inspiring others to work toward a shared vision. Also, don’t be afraid to take risks or step outside of your comfort zone. Some of the best opportunities come from saying “yes” before you feel fully ready. Finally, remember that impact comes from consistency over time — every role, project, or challenge builds toward the leader you’re becoming.
