Syracuse Winter Wedding Inspiration
Would you believe us if we said winter is a magical time to get married around Syracuse?
Imagine a snowy winter wonderland wedding in Central New York with string lights, hot cocoa, and cozy vibes.
November through April is technically considered “off-season” for many wedding professionals, so you’ll likely have a better selection of vendors and dates, plus you may save money. Does this sound like the day you’re dreaming of? Keep reading for tips and inspiration!
Opt for an Indoor Venue
In the wintertime think about hotels, golf courses, lodges, or industrial venues that have space for indoor ceremonies and receptions. Places like the Marriott Syracuse Downtown or Traditions at the Links would be perfect for a Syracuse wedding around the holidays while adorned with Christmas trees. Head north and consider Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville for a larger day or Hartlot Happening in Elbridge for a larger or more intimate affair. There are also plenty of options to choose from in Skaneateles if you would like a Finger Lakes wedding at the Sinclair of Skaneateles or the Skaneateles Lodge. Choosing a venue with ample indoor space will give you peace of mind so that you don’t have to worry about the weather and your guests will stay comfortable all night long.
Create Personalized Touches
If you plan a wedding around Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or Valentine’s Day, consider adding elements from the holidays that are meaningful to you. Mini evergreens, string lights, greenery, pinecones, pies, desserts, or plaids can complement your special day with the holiday. Some venues may offer a hot cocoa bar where guests can make delicious treats before the ceremony or after dinner. Salt City Coffee, Recess Coffee, and Cake Bar offer a coffee cart, which would be a cozy touch to your day. Think about adding signature drinks that you and your fiancé enjoy in the winter like mulled wine or an old fashioned. Incorporate fur shawls or blankets to add softness and warmth to the day that guests can use throughout the day or take home as favors. These would be beautiful in your photos!
Pro tip: want to stand out during your entrance into your reception or first dance? Ask your DJ if they do cold sparklers or a cloud dance to wow your guests!
Embrace the Elements
If you’re getting married in the winter, then you must embrace the snow (or rain) during your photos throughout the day. The snow can create a magical feel to the day, and as a bonus, you will avoid the summer humidity and heat by getting married this time of year. Have umbrellas handy if the temps are above freezing and don’t forget that the sun sets earlier between November and March! Choose to have an earlier ceremony or a first look if you’d like pictures outside during daylight. Your venue and photographer can help you with your timeline to have a picture-perfect day.
Most of all, have fun planning your winter wedding! It will be a day that you and your guests won’t forget. If you need help with hotel blocks or other recommendations, reach out to us at info@visitsyracuse.com for more information.
