Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day in Onondaga County by participating in the Honeywell Sportmen's Days. This weekend event takes place at Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery on September 28 and 29. Enthusiasts of all ages can experience a variety of the great sportsmen activities that New York State offers. Attendees can watch lessons, demos and participate in activities centered around the great outdoors. Here is what you can expect at this unique event:

Safety First

Embrace your inner Bear Grylls with survival skill lessons on what to do in the wilderness. Learn from conservation officers and forest rangers or visit with Eddie Eagle (the mascot for the NRA's Eddie Eagle Gun Safe program).

Wings & Things

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn waterfowl identification/calling along with turkey calling. Birds of prey will also be on display for those who want to learn more about the diversity of winged animals in NYS.

Reel 'em In

Up your angler skills by watching fly fishing, trout fishing and jig tying demonstrations. The hatchery venue also allows for attendees to fish at the event itself, so bring your NYS fishing license and cast a line.

Learn from the Professionals

Woodsmen, local wildlife artists, authors, and Hall of Fame sportsmen will all be in attendance so you can meet and watch demonstrations from those who have honed their craft. Retriever and pointer dog trainers will also be onsite for those who want to learn about their role with our four-legged friends.

Learn to How to Take Your Best Shot Yet

Watch demonstrations and learn safety lessons involving clay target shooting, trapping, archery, air rifle, and muzzle loading.

Chef It Up

Professional chefs will be performing demonstrations on how to cook wild game and fish. This is a great opportunity to learn how to bring the outdoors into your kitchen or campground.
