Collegiate sports are taken very seriously around here in Syracuse, New York. Onondaga County is home to some top skilled teams ranging from NCAA division I,- III level athletics. Whether you’re an Orange fan and heading to the JMA Wireless Dome, ready to ‘Phins Up’ your favorite Dolphins team or prepared to root on the Onondaga Lazers, celebrating sports in Syracuse is a year-round commitment – are you prepared?

The Orange

Syracuse University is home to the Orange’s 20 Division I women’s and men’s sporting teams as well as home to the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big East Conference. In 2022 the Syracuse Men’s Soccer team won a national title and took home the 2022 Men’s College Cup Championship.

Le Moyne Dolphins

Beginning fall of 2023, Le Moyne Athletics will make an historic move to Division I as they accept an invitation to join the Northeast Conference (NEC). Le Moyne’s 21 NCAA teams will now participate amongst the nine other institutions allowing them to showcase their talents in one of the nation's largest collegiate markets.

Onondaga Lazers

At Onondaga County Community College, you can find more than 15 Division III athletic teams for both women and men ranging in sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and more. The Lazers are a part of the National Junior College Athletic Association NJCAA and the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC). In 2023, 3 teams secured NJCAA Region III Championship including golf, women’s lacrosse, and men’s lacrosse. Women’s Track and Field also took home National championships for the discus throw, 200m and 100m race, and the long jump. Golf and women’s basketball secured the MSAC for the 2022 and 2023 season.
