Things to Do in Winter in Syracuse

We don’t shut down for the winter; we bundle up and plunge right into it; sometimes into a large mound of snow in an attempt to make snow angels. You’ve seen the news - the 10 feet of snow… yes, that’s us but not all at once. We embrace every foot of it. Even our elephants at Rosamond Gifford Zoo (open all year) play in the snow. Here in Syracuse and Central New York, you’ll find us taking in the fresh, crisp and cool air on the ski slopes and  outdoor ice rinks, snowmobiling the trails, tubing, building igloos and man-made sleds with the kids and winding down near  a cozy fireplace with a glass of eggnog.

We have plenty of indoor options as well, if that’s also your thing. Explore the savings inside Destiny USA, the sixth largest shopping destination in the country and home to an impressive list of dining and adventurous indoor entertainment options; including indoor rope climbing, go-carts, simulated golf and so much more! Central New York also offers indoor rock climbing, indoor trampolines, and fun educational activities at the MOST (Museum of Science and Technology). Embrace the holiday spirit at the Annual Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles or Lights on the Lake in Liverpool.
