Local Beaches
Green Lakes | Fayetteville, NY
This state park has tons to offer. Not only is it beautiful, but it is also perfect for families looking to beat the heat. You can take a shaded walk on the trails, go for a swim, or just relax on the beach. The park is open from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm daily, and they do have lifeguards on duty!
Jamesville Beach Park | Jamesville, NY
For a smaller, quieter option, check out Jamesville Beach. Just down the street from the village, enjoy a day of beach volleyball, swimming, and hanging with friends! The park also hosts a playground, walking trails, and a dock. The beach is open until 6:00 pm daily, leaving you enough time to grab some ice cream on your way home!
The Waterfront at Clift Park | Skaneateles, NY
Go for a dip in the cool water of Skaneateles Lake and enjoy the adorable town afterwards! Swimming is open daily to the public from 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm. Pro-tip, don’t jump in if lifeguards aren’t on duty!
Don’t end your day hungry, Skaneateles is full of restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating. Check out Bluewater Grill, Doug’s Fish Fry, or Lakehouse Pub!
Indoor Activities to Cool Off
The Everson Museum | Downtown Syracuse
Located at 401 Harrison Street, Syracuse, the Everson is the first museum to dedicate itself to American art. According to the museum, “The Everson is for everyone, a place where community connects, and inspiration surrounds you.” The museum hosts events all summer, like tours and ice cream socials, so check their website before you go! Exhibits rotate annually, make sure to check back in with the website when you think you’ve seen it all! The Everson provides a unique experience to get you out of the heat, and into a world of art. Also, try Louise, the new artistic cafe at the museum! Come cool off and try their unique concoctions.
Destiny USA | Syracuse, NY
Never a bad idea to spend the day at Syracuse’s iconic mall, Destiny USA. With over 300 retail spaces, restaurants, and activities, there’s something for the whole family!
