200th Anniversary of Erie Canal

When the Seneca Chief reaches a port along the Erie Canal, the public can experience free, family-friendly activities that bring canal history to life. While docked, the vessel becomes a floating museum that allows you to step aboard to explore recreated cabins, view historical artifacts, and engage with interactive exhibits that illuminate the canal’s cultural, economic, and environmental significance - including the contributions of Indigenous communities. On shore, Buffalo Maritime Center will host special events, educational programs, and hands-on wooden boatbuilding activities for all ages.

Celebrate all things fall with the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo on October 4-5 from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.! This weekend-long festival brings together the Central New York area’s fall favorites, featuring creature chats, local vendors, autumnal activities, games (including corn hole, pumpkin bowling, ring toss, and Jenga), and, of course, fabulous foliage photo opportunities with selfie stations throughout the zoo grounds. The event is FREE for members or included with zoo admission.
