Looking to pick some pumpkins or apples, drink some cider, try out a hayride, and pet some farm animals all in one spot? Then read on for our list of family-friendly fall festivals and other fun farm spots.
Abbott Farms Fall Fest – Occurring every Saturday, Sunday and Columbus Day from September 7th – October 31st. Enjoy apple picking, visit the farm animals and check out the wagon rides, corn maze, apple cannon, tube slides and face painting. Take home some fresh baked goods from the bakery or grab some apple fritters to enjoy on-site. Adults can enjoy a tasting of their hard ciders, produced from apples and fruits grown right on-site.
Critz Farms Fall Harvest Celebration: Every weekend from September 14th – October 20th, this Harvest Celebration offers apple and pumpkin picking, wagon rides, Butterfly Garden Corn Maze. Cider making demonstrations, playgrounds, animal area and a cow train. Enjoy a hard cider or beer in their tasting room and a bite to eat from the café. Entertainment, live music and other special events vary by weekend.
Chuck Hafner’s Fall Festival: A month-long event this festival runs from September 28th through October 20th. While many activities are open daily throughout the week there are additional activities held on the weekends including free shows, magical demonstrations and animal exhibits. Check their calendar for which weekend your favorite food truck is stopping and other special activities.
Lafayette Apple Festival: In its 47th year, this annual festival includes music, rides, ponies, over 500 craft vendors and all your favorite apple treats! Arrive early for the annual apple pancake breakfast then move on to apple pies, dumplings, turnovers and cider donuts, non-apple food items are also available. Don’t miss the Cider Mill while on the grounds, offering a hands-on experience for youngsters to press apples on an antique cider press.
Spooktacular Haunted House: October 18th – 19th & October 25th – 26th from 6pm-9pm. This free event at Burnet Park offers a haunted house and Halloween Carnival, with games and activities for children. Wear a costume and get in the Halloween spirit!
Wicked Woods at Green Lakes: October 19th from 4pm-8pm. This free family event includes trick or treating, arts and crafts activities, creepy critters, a haunted trail and more! Come dressed up for trick or treating along the beach and stick around for a classic beach bonfire.
Zoo Boo: Enjoy a day of trick-or-treating with the Zoo animals! Wear your costumes and bring your treat bags as the Rosamond Gifford Zoo transforms into a daytime Halloween bash. Additional activities include potion demos, Creepy Crawly Animal Encounters and more!
