We've grouped some of our favorite kid-friendly destinations by age to help you find activities that are just right for your family. Many of these attractions are fun for siblings of different ages, too, making it easy to plan a day everyone will enjoy.
Ages 0–4 | Little Explorers
Children in this age group thrive on hands-on play, colorful spaces, and animal encounters. These attractions are perfect for introducing little ones to new adventures while keeping things manageable for parents.
Big Don’s Bear Cub Village
Big Don’s Wild River Outdoor Fun Center in Cicero boasts dozens of kid-friendly fun options, including their Bear Cub Village. Specifically designed for children, Bear Cub Village features miniature golf, imaginative play areas, building stations, scooters, climbing equipment, and interactive activities that encourage creativity and movement.
Rosamond Gifford Zoo
Animal lovers of every age will enjoy visiting one of the country's top accredited zoos. See elephants, penguins, monkeys, snow leopards, and other animals while strolling easy-to-navigate pathways perfect for strollers and families with multiple kids.
Canal Landing Park
This fully fenced playground in Fayetteville is a favorite for families with toddlers. The smaller play structures and enclosed layout make it easy for little ones to explore safely.
Camillus Splash Pad Park
Looking to cool off? The splash pad offers a safe way for toddlers and preschoolers to enjoy the water, with nearby playgrounds and open space for even more fun. Open from the end of May through the beginning of September, from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm daily.
Billy Beez
Located in Destiny USA, Billy Beez is the ultimate indoor play park for kids, making it an excellent rainy-day destination. The 20,000 sq. ft. play park area offers slides, sports courts, bouncy trampolines, and more.
Ages 5–8 | Curious Adventurers
As kids become more independent, they're ready for bigger adventures that mix learning with play.
Wonderworks
An amusement park for the mind, WonderWorks lets kids experience hurricane-force winds, lie on a bed of nails, explore space exhibits, and discover hands-on science throughout the upside-down building.
Build-A-Bear Workshop
Also located in Destiny USA, here parents can bring their little loved ones in for an experience they’re sure to remember! Create a new furry friend together and let your child personalize it with outfits and accessories they'll treasure long after your trip.
Milton J Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (The MOST)
Spark curiosity through interactive STEM exhibits, engineering challenges and the immersive ExploraDome theater. It's educational without ever feeling like school.
Onondaga Lake Park
Toddlers and younger children will love the easily accessible playground right at the edge of Onondaga Lake. Known as the "Central Park of Central New York" is a 8+ mile linear greenway, featuring four great trails - East Shore Recreation, Shoreline Walking Trail, Lakeland Nature and the West Shore - bustling year-round with social interaction, special events, waterfront picnics and the region's premier skate and dog parks. Wegmans Landing, a ten-acre venue, includes Wegmans Playground, a colorful mecca with climbers, swings, play houses and slides while the 16,000 sq. ft. concrete Onondaga Lake Skatepark, open to skateboarders, BMX bikers, and inline skaters, features the challenging Liberty Bowl, volcano, quarter pipes and fun boxes. Explore a bit of Syracuse history at The Salt Museum, built on the site of an original salt boiling block.
Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery
Kids love feeding fish and learning about New York's freshwater ecosystems at this hidden gem.
Ages 9–12 | Active Explorers
Older kids are ready for bigger challenges and experiences that keep them moving.
Apex Entertainment
Apex Entertainment Syracuse is 55,000 square feet of pure fun! Located on the third floor of Destiny USA, the entertainment center features bowling, laser tag, arcade games, bumper cars, and virtual reality experiences, making it an easy choice for families looking to spend hours together. The fam can also grab a meal and drink at their on-site American cuisine restaurant, The Pit Stop Tavern.
Sky Zone Trampoline Park
The kids will get the energy out jumping, dodging, and climbing at this wall-to-wall indoor trampoline park featuring a variety of programs and attractions.
Amazing Mirror Maze
Also located within Destiny USA, the Amazing Mirror Maze is a creative and interactive trail of mirror mazes that stimulates the mind and challenges adventurers to find their way out of the wall-to-wall mirrored space. It’s fun for the whole family!
Abbott Farms, Baldwinsville
Open for year-round fun for kids of all ages, there’s tons to discover on the farm. Depending on the season, enjoy apple picking, sunflower fields, corn mazes, wagon rides, pumpkin patches, and plenty of outdoor fun. Check their website to see what’s going on now.
Beaver Lake Nature Center
Explore boardwalks, hiking trails, and wildlife while introducing kids to nature through interactive exhibits and seasonal programs.
Ages 13+ | Teens
Older kids often want experiences that feel exciting and a little more adventurous.
Canyon Climb Adventure
Located inside Destiny USA within WonderWorks, Canyon Climb is the world's largest suspended indoor ropes course with more than 80 obstacles spread across multiple levels.
5 Wits
Ready for some live-action entertainment? Head over to 5 Wits at Destiny USA for cutting-edge fun that immerses you in realistic, hands-on adventures. Computer-controlled special effects and physical interaction put you at the center of all the action, leaving kids feeling like they’re in a movie or video game.
The Warrior Factory

Green Lakes State Park
