March 15th doesn’t necessarily carry much importance…unless you live or you love the '315 area of Central New York. And, if you work for Visit Syracuse then '315 Day is pretty important around here. Which is why we asked some of the Visit Syracuse team “Why do you love the '315 area?” Let's check out some of their answers!

Title: Sales Team Leader
What I love about the 315 is the ability to raise a family in an area of NYS where we can experience big city feel events like NCAA Sports, Concerts, a State Fair and all types of festivals and entertainment while in the same location we can escape the city feel and take a boat on the water, dine lakeside in Skaneateles or experience a location like the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The best of both worlds all within our county borders.

My favorite thing about Syracuse, NY and living in the 315 area is the Eastwood neighborhood. It’s a great place to live, shop, eat and work! There is a great sense of community, a village within the city! My favorite place to relax is Hieros! They have awesome sandwiches and serve up local beers from around Syracuse.

What I love the most about the 315 is our sense of community! I have been lucky to meet so many passionate people and small business owners who love what they do, appreciate the beauty of our area and are dedicated to uplifting others. I co-lead a Rising Tide Society chapter in Syracuse that meets monthly at a local restaurant or business; we met at Le Mélange in downtown Syracuse last month (pictured above). Seeing our community over competition spirit flourish while sharing knowledge and empowering each other is my favorite thing!

What I love about the 315 area is enjoying all 4 seasons throughout the year! Syracuse has beautiful weather, so watching the first snow fall in the winter, getting out on a boat in the summer, and seeing the leaves change in the fall are always awesome to experience.

I love 315 because it has a bit of everything! We have every season and almost every kind of weather. We have beautiful, quiet and spacious outdoor settings but we have a bustling city life too. The Greater Syracuse area has a wide range of shopping and dining, I'm still working on trying it all! We have some of the most talented musicians and artists that share their unique skills with us-- the 315 really is a great place to live, work and play.

One thing I love about the 315 is Tipperary Hill, especially during March! Having grown up in the area I love the vibe and community feeling. The pride around the “green over red” light, the Irish history, and all the old neighborhood stories make it a special place in the Syracuse area. I don’t think there’s a better place in the country to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (and Green Beer Sunday)! From the neighborhood shops like BeeKind to the local watering holes like Coleman’s and Blarney Stone there’s always somewhere to celebrate being Irish on Tipp Hill!

I love the ease of access to both urban and rural experiences the 315 area has to offer. There is such great food, drink, and entertainment options available for all ages. And best of all, we have 4 seasons that make each one of these experiences unique all year long. For example you can stop by Heritage Hill Brewhouse any time of year and your experience will change based on weather, I personally enjoy watching the sunset there with my family.
