March 15th doesn’t necessarily carry much importance…unless you live or you love the '315 area of Central New York. And, if you work for Visit Syracuse then '315 Day is pretty important around here. Which is why we asked some of the Visit Syracuse team “Why do you love the '315 area?” Let's check out some of their answers!

What I love about the 315 is the ability to raise a family in an area of NYS where we can experience big city feel events like NCAA Sports, Concerts, a State Fair and all types of festivals and entertainment while in the same location we can escape the city feel and take a boat on the water, dine lakeside in Skaneateles or experience a location like the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The best of both worlds all within our county borders.

My favorite thing about Syracuse, NY and living in the 315 area is the Eastwood neighborhood. It’s a great place to live, shop, eat and work! There is a great sense of community, a village within the city! My favorite place to relax is the Eastwood Brewery! They have great local beers on tap and a small town neighborhood bar feel. The Curd Nerd is amazing for cheeses as well!

Growing up in the 315, I developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of our area. All the lakes, waterfalls, parks, and gardens of Onondaga County inspired my love for nature and hiking. Labrador Hollow State Unique Area holds a special place in my heart year-round, especially frozen Tinker Falls in the winter. Being centrally located within New York State also makes for great day trips to the Adirondacks, Catskills, or Finger Lakes to further explore the natural wonders of our state!

What I love about the 315 area is enjoying all 4 seasons throughout the year! Syracuse has beautiful weather, so watching the first snow fall in the winter, getting out on a boat in the summer, and seeing the leaves change in the fall are always awesome to experience.

My favorite thing about the 315 its appeal for anyone and everyone. Growing up in and going to college in Syracuse area (‘Phins Up!) I’ve been able to appreciate all that is offered here. You can experience nature, like going for a hike at Beaver Lake, or you can have big city moments, like Jazz Fest in Clinton Square. No matter who you are, you can find something to do in the 315!

One thing I love about the '315 is Tipperary Hill, especially in March! Having grown up in the area, I truly appreciate the vibrant atmosphere and strong sense of community. The pride surrounding the famous “green over red” light, the rich Irish history, and the countless old neighborhood stories make it a unique and special part of Syracuse. I can’t think of a better place in the country to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (and Green Beer Sunday)! From charming local shops like BeeKind to classic neighborhood pubs like Coleman’s and Nibsy’s, and newer favorites like Emerald Cocktail Kitchen, there’s always a perfect spot to embrace the Irish spirit on Tipp Hill!

I love the ease of access to both urban and rural experiences the 315 area has to offer. There is such great food, drink, and entertainment options available for all ages. And best of all, we have 4 seasons that make each one of these experiences unique all year long. For example you can stop by Heritage Hill Brewhouse any time of year and your experience will change based on weather, I personally enjoy watching the sunset there with my family.

I LOVE running. I love participating in races all throughout Onondaga County- with my favorite race being the Tipperary Hill Shamrock Run that celebrates the St. Patrick's Day Season in Syracuse, New York. It's so fun, because it's almost like a party throughout the neighborhood, you don't have to run it to come out and celebrate the day. Other runs that I have done in the area include the Parkway, the Syracuse airport, the Eastwood neighborhood, and in the city of Syracuse. I like the terrain that Syracuse offers.
